TO Education
Journal Two
Wow is all I have to say. Keeping updated on my social media pages were difficult. As I have three social media
pages, I ran into a problem as I realized it was hard running three all at once. I have answered questions from
the public on my Instagram account and Twitter account which I found very shocking because I wasn't
expecting any. A question I got was "what are your thoughts on the exclusion of children with disabilities to
education in developing countries?" I was so content that somebody asked me this question as I never
thought of it. Questions like these expand on my thoughts and I thank the person who asked this question.
Throughout the week, I posted pictures and posters explaining this social issue. Although I posted on all three
social media pages, I found that my message got across my audience more on Instagram.
Instagram was a great way to spread my message as many people use this platform more. I posted many pictures and posters on my Instagram account and have received likes and comments. From just the past 7 days, I have gotten 70 profile visits. This week I decided to post a picture saying for every like I get, that is $1. In total, I received 16 likes which means 416, but I will be donating an extra $4. In total, I will be donating $20 to UNICEF to support children who do not have access to education. Additionally, a follower posted this post on her own Instagram story as this helped me reach a bigger audience. I have also received 10 likes on my Facebook page as this was the goal. I'm content with the number of followers, reaches, and likes I have gotten as this proves that I was able to get my message across in an effective method. Additionally, I have created posters as a method to promote my information because this is a more appealing method then writing a description about it. Finally, creating a website will help get my message across as it is an unique way to share your knowledge. I was also able to add a section on how to get involved, so if any of my audience wants to know how to help, they can easily find out!
From doing this initiative, I find that my audience has changed in a sense that they are now more knowledgeable and are able to take action. Along with that, I believe that they can now explain that inequality in education for children in developing countries does still exist. On the stages of continuum, I believe that the people involved in this initiative are at motivated to change and wanting to take action as this was my goal. Having more and more people aware of this issue is the best way to start a change. As I mention how this initiative have changed my followers, this initiative has changed me as well. During the process of advertising this issue, I had a really hard time with it as I realized that it is a lot of work to put into something so small. Although I am just posting posting posters on my social media pages, I am finding it to be difficult. This was for the entire week since July 20th, 2019. I can not imagine how hard it is to actually take the action to stop it. What I mean by this is I now realize that accomplishing something is not as easy as it sounds and creating an actually change will take time. This initiative also changed me by my outlook on this issue. It is crazy to think that there are millions of kids around the world who want to go to school but can't. I always tell my friends how much I dread school, but I should start being more thankful that I can go to school and can get an education. During this entire process, it has also made me happy that I am able to follow along with this initiative and make a change despite how small it was.
